Every child wants to be a million different things when they grow up. My own childish ambitions changed repeatedly throughout the years, but one key “career” that stuck out to me, if it can be called such, was to be an adventurer. I wanted to wear a cape, brandish a mighty sword, go on daring journeys and explore new things.

Eventually I discovered doing that kind of thing in public can get you arrested, but the seed of adventure had already begun to germinate in my mind. The desire to create, explore and pretend became an inseparable part of who I am, so it's little wonder, in that regard, I started writing stories and performing voice overs, and even less surprising most of my novels fit into the categories of sci-fi or high fantasy.

I was born in Georgia in the United States and quickly fell in love with its hills, mountains, forests, orchards and rivers, and most of my spare time in my childhood involved wandering through the woods or rolling down hills. A wanderer by nature, born to a family of wanderers, I later lived in rural Indiana and Illinois, Chicago, and Florida, soaking in the environments and atmospheres of each, and the natural instinct to continue wandering hasn't gone away yet.

As a writer, I take inspiration from any story that makes the reader feel, but also makes them think. Stories have a powerful capacity to inform as well as entertain, and injecting that gray morality into my plots is a continuing theme I try to explore in new ways. Some of my personal favorite novels include Dracula by Bram Stoker (an oldie but a goodie, masterful at building suspense and intrigue), The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski (a thinking reader's book on the nature of morality), and Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (top-notch at everything from characters to prose to plot twists).

As a voice actor, my focus is mainly on characters and audiobooks, and it's hard to emphasize how much fun I have bringing both to life. My typecasts are soft-spoken characters, father figures, and authoritative types. (And Liam Neeson impersonations, since my voice tends to naturally “go there” when it gets low and serious.)

In my spare time, I like to read, game, practice martial arts, try to avoid hitting my head on things with my 6'05” body, research foreign languages and new accents, plan where I'm going to wander next, and generally work some more. I never know exactly where I'm going to wind up next or what I'll create while I'm there, so I do hope you'll stick with me and share my adventure.

See you next tale!
